Just think 168 hours until take off!
This is a major undertaking when you consider the short time frame and the work needed to prepare a home for someone else to use in our absence! I strongly encourage that everyone should move in some form every few years just to keep the stored junk under control!
Lawn cut today, Marian trimmed shrubs one last time and pulled some persistent weeds. I oversaw the pumping of the septic and arranged for phone, paper, cable terminations.
Found out from the airline that we are each allowed two suitcases which is fine. If we take an extra one it will cost us $150 regardless of whether we carry ten pounds or fifty. I guess if you go over you might as well go heavy! Some more books for a small library, perhaps!
These past few days I have found myself repeatedly stating, “We don't need to buy that because we are moving away.” What a liberating feeling! I am wondering how much simpler we could live and in the process free up funds, time, resources for eternal causes – probably a lot simpler!
Considering that North Americans are the greatest comsumers in the world any such move to restrict our purchases would free up volumes of resources for other less blessed people – mind you, my experience has been that there are millions of these who daily hope for the minimalist scrounged morsels on which to keep death at bay.
The lingering question: What will we need and what can we leave behind? Time will tell our ability to forecast the answer!

I am excited and looking forward to our Amazing Race to Cyprus. Despite the high temperatures, leaving family and friends and facing a lot of unknowns, I think that this could be some of the best years of our lives. I have always enjoyed travelling with David, and although this is not a vacation, there will be lots of new experiences for us to enjoy together and new people to meet.
